Library Committee Meetings
Library Committee Meetings were held on 27/04/2011, 10/08/2011 and 02/11/2011, in which matters related to library budget, discount structure, purchase procedures, journals subscriptions, fund allocation etc. were discussed and decided.
Growth of Library
The current financial year has been a milestone in the history of library in terms of allocation of fund to the library and its utilisation. This year library has been allocated Rs. 19500000/= for purchase of books and furniture. This year (April 2011 to January 2012) library has added nearly 4000 books to its collection. This amounts to nearly 20% of the total collection. (ie 20544) Apart from books, six library stacks have also been added to accommodate ever growing collections of books. 226 Books have been written- off the library stocks.
Circulation and Overdue Chares
Library circulation (number of issue and return of books) has reached the figure of 73390 during the period of July 2010 to June 2011. The Library collected Rs 55563 during the period of January 2011 to December 2011 as overdue charges. The amount was deposited in the accounts department.
Book Exhibitions
Library organized three book exhibitions and displays in the month of August and September 2011. M/S A B Books, M/S The New Knowledge Tree and M/S Kanishka Books exhibited their collection.
Library Orientation and Information Literacy Programme
Library also organized following programmes
1 Department wise orientation programme for all the students on the first day of new secession. (ie 21 July 2011)
2 Organised information literacy programme on e-resources at D. U. Library for the college teachers on 21 September 2011.
3 Organised information programme at D. U. Library for students of Electronics IIIrd year and IVth semester. Such programmes for other students are being planned.
Library also helped ECA and Yoga club to organize their programmes in the library premises.
Library Blog
The blog is being updated time to time and since the start of the blog, nearly 3437 pageviews have been recorded from various parts of the globe including India (3083), US (94), Germany (41), UK (12) etc.
Visits
One Japanese Delegation and Mr. S P Dixit, Director Higher Education visited the library during their visit in the college.
